Favorite Song Night.. "Redeemer" & "Trust In Jesus"

When I need a little extra Faith for something I'm facing I love to Listen to "Redeemer". It reminds me that I can do all things through Christ..

When I need to remember I have a Great deliverer, and A strong Defender, I Listen to "Trust In Jesus".

 Nicole C. Mullen \ Redeemer

Who taught the sun where to stand in the morning
Who told the ocean you an only come this far?
Who showed the moon where to hide 'til evening
Whose words alone can catch a falling star?

Well I know my Redeemer lives
I know my Redeemer lives
All of creation testify
This life within me cries
I know my Redeemer lives

The very same God that spins things in orbit
He runs to the weary, the worn and the weak
And the same gentle hands that hold me when I'm broken
They conquered death to bring me victory

Now I know my Redeemer lives
I know my Redeemer lives
Let all creation testify
Let this life within me cry
I know my Redeemer, He lives

To take away my shame
And He lives forever I'll proclaim
That the payment for my sin
Was the precious life He gave
But now He's alive
And there's an empty grave.

And I know my Redeemer, He lives
I know my Redeemer lives
Let all creation testify
This life within me cries
I know my Redeemer lives

Trust In Jesus
Third Day

One of these days we all will stand in judgment for
Every single word
That we have spoken
One of these days we all will stand before the Lord
Give a reason for
Everything we've done
And what I've done is

(Chorus)
Trust in Jesus
My great Deliverer
My strong Defender
The Son of God
I trust in Jesus
Blessed Redeemer
My Lord forever
The Holy One, the Holy One

What are you gonna do when your time has come
And your life is done
And there's nothing you can stand on
What will you have to say at the judgment throne
Well, I already know
The only thing that I can say I

Chorus

There's nothing I can do on my own to find forgiveness
It's by His grace alone
I trust in Jesus, trust in Jesus

Chorus X2

A Week Of Adventure Awaits Me...

It's Vacation Bible School Week !!  Oh it's been a great week so far.  A week of Adventure and Fun.

If you haven't guess our Theme is "Big Apple Adventure". We are visiting New York City each night and learning all kinds of wonderful things.

I usually take a night and teach the Bible story to all the various age groups. I decided to Mix it up this year. I am officially the "Snack Lady"  aka: Part of the Team at " Midtown Snacks".

We are a Snack Shop in New York.  A Vendor of awesome yumminess. We even have a hot dog cart and bench. It's wonderful...

We are not your ordinary Snack stop.  NOOOO We are also re-enforcing what the kids are learning in their daily Bible study. This week We are learning how to Connect with Faith, Love, Trust, Others, and Life.. It's great.

Our menu is fun. Tonight we are having Cityscape Waffles, Big Apple dippers, and juice.
The waffles will be cut into skyscraper shapes and we'll have a cream cheese Marshmallow dip for the apple wedges.  We love it.  The Team and I.

My favorite snack item is yet to come. It will be wed. night. The "Taxis"  I really hope they work out.  You use a vanilla zinger cake as the base of the taxi. Take mini Oreo cookies and separate the cookie, scoop out the frosting. You now have two tires.. do this twice for the tires, add a tootsie roll midget on top for the "taxi sign", headlights, and taillights and there you will have it. An edible taxi. I think I'm going to make a practice one tonight, just to make sure the frosting will hold the parts on.

I suggested last night when we were discussing the rest of the week, that we should make them on the plates they will be served on. That way if something "falls off", It will all still be there to eat. LOL   I can't wait to see how it turns out. I'll have to take my camera and take photos. I hadn't taken any pictures yet since we've been busy getting into the snack making and serving mode. LOL

The Big night is Thursday. That's Family night. The Parents of the kids stay and go through all the different activities with them. Then everyone meets in back and we have a big hot dog supper along with some of the snack we prepared during the week.

I like the Sunday through Thursday schedule. So many of the kids could not come on Friday nights. Many head up north for the weekend, or head off to grandma's house, or off on vacation. Thursdays most families are still in town.

I love VBS. I love the decorating, and planning. I love the stories, and the costumes. I love the Bible stories and the singing. Now I love making snacks. I had some kids ask me what we were having tonight. They are so excited to see what we have. LOL  I love it.

I hope you have a chance to work in VBS, or have an opportunity to take some children to a VBS at your Church or in your area. It's a wonderful time of fun.

A Hero Comes Home Today..

Today I am remembering one of our "Special" Sailors. U.S. Navy Hospital Corpsman Aaron Ullom also affectionately known as "Doc"..  Was killed Tuesday July 12, 2011 at war in Afghanistan.
He was just 20, yet so full of love and loyalty to his Family and Friends, his Country, his Community, his Sailors, and his Marines.

Today Aaron is arriving home in Midland Michigan. The community has been asked to line the drive from the airport to the funeral home. I know that will be a very long and very loving line. A wonderful tribute to such a wonderful young man.

I didn't know Aaron personally. Our Support group had just received his name to add to the list. We packed his box on Wed. night with our specially themed "Christmas in July" items. Notes and cards we also added. Our leader Cheryl heard the news while she was filling out the customs form for Aaron's box. What a shock. This is the first Troop in 8 1/2 years that has been killed. We have had a few of those on our list injured, but we have never lost one. The grief is heavy.

Aaron has a facebook page where you can leave your condolences for the family. http://www.facebook.com/pages/RIP-Aaron-Ullom/146289338781713

There was a post there that I really enjoyed. Not knowing alot about Hospital Corpsmen, it gave me a look into what kind of man is needed for such a position. I know husband talks often about how much they all counted on their "medic".. Once the Medic  was wounded and Ken got to play medic for a while. He didn't like it at all.

I am going to leave you with 2 posts that were made. The first by Larry who was a Hospital Corpsman during Vietnam, and the second was posted by Andrew. Please remember Aaron's family, friends, and fellow Sailors and Marines during this time.

The call if it meant saving your wounded of "Corpsman Up!" meant you had to overcome your fear of death, get up and rush to a wounded Marine's side and provide the best medical care one can -- all the time under fire. An unspoken bond between Doc and His grunts is that in spite of all official teaching, you would, without hesitation, take a bullet for a fellow Sailor or Marine

I AM A NAVY CORPSMAN.
I POSSESS THE STAMINA AND ENTHUSIASM OF YOUTH AND THE WISDOM AND EXPERIENCE OF AN OLD MAN.
I AM 3 PARTS DOCTOR, 1 PART NURSE, 2 PARTS MARINE,
1 PART YEOMAN AND 3 PARTS MOM,
YET I AM 100% SAILOR.
I AM UNEMPLOYABLE TO THE CIVILIAN WORLD IN MY GIVEN PROFESSION
YET HAVE BEEN THE VERY LIFE LINE FOR COUNTLESS MARINES,
SOLDIERS AND SAILORS SINCE 1778.
I HAVE CARRIED MARINES FROM THE BATTLE FIELD …
AND HAVE BEN CARRIED REVERENTLY MYSELF BY MARINES WHO MORNED MY PASSING LIKE THAT OF A BROTHER OR SISTER.
I AM YOUNG. I AM OLD. BRAVE, SCARED AND SCARRED.
MY TITLE HAS CHANGED OVER THE YEARS:
LOB LOLLY BOY, SURGEONS STEWART, PHARMACIST MATE, HOSPITAL CORPSMAN, IDC, YET WITH ALL THE CHANGES I AM STILL SIMPLY KNOW AS "DOC".
 I HAVE CELEBRATED PEACE;
YET FELT THE STING OF WAR ON THE SEAS, IN JUNGLES, IN FOREIGN CITIES, IN WASHINGTON D.C.
AND ON BEACHES OF EVERY SHADE OF SAND… WHITE, TAN, CORAL AND BLACK.
I HAVE RAISED HELL ON LIBERTY;  HOPE IN THE MIDST OF BATTLE,
AND OLD GLORY ON IWO JIMA.
I HAVE REMOVED APPENDIXES ON SUBMARINES
AND LIMBS IN THE MIDST OF BATTLE AND
MANY OTHER PROCEDURES FAR ABOVE AND BEYOND WHAT I AM EXPECTED TO DO BY THE NORMAL PRACTICE OF MEDICINE
BECAUSE IT HAD TO BE DONE IN ORDER TO SAVE THE LIFE OF A MARINE OR SAILOR
IN BATTLE OR UNDER THE ICE, FAR FROM A DOCTORS CARE.
I HAVE IGNORED MY OWN WOUNDS TO THE POINT OF DEATH IN ORDER TO STAY AT MY STATION TREATING THE WOUNDED
OF MY NATIONS NAVY, MARINE CORP, ARMY AND AIR FORCE.
I HAVE THE HIGHEST NUMBER OF MEDAL OF HONORS OF ANY CORP IN THE NAVY ….. MOST OF THEM PRESENTED TO MY WIFE, CHILD OR MOTHER
BECAUSE I WAS ALREADY IN HEAVEN AT THE TIME.
I AM PROUD TO KNOW IN MY HEART THAT EVERY MARINE WHO HAS EVER FOUGHT AND EVERY SAILOR WHO HAS GONE TO SEA ON SHIPS
OWE THEIR VERY LIVES TO THOSE THEY SIMPLY,
YET RESPECTFULLY KNOW AS "DOC"-

Farmer's Market Finds... Veggies and Goat Milk Soap

Today was my first trip of the summer to the Farmer's Market. I love it. It's like a huge surprise every week. You never know who or what you may find there.

This week most of the items are from other states. I did find some green beans from up north of us, also some cherries and peaches. I even found Tomatoes from Canada. LOL  Today I let the location slide. I normally buy from local merchants.

Today's haul. Green beans, White new potatoes, Honey and cream sweet corn, cucumbers, radishes (my friend Connie gave her half of her bunch), and a HUGE honey rock melon.

I also grabbed some Goat Milk Soap.

The Unscented soap looks just like the photo above. Mine doesn't look exactly like this as I got the scented kind and I got one of the oops bars.. opps, Scott made a mistake cutting it.. Go Scott. Scott and his wife Laurie along with their kids are friends. They have Nubian goats they purchased in order to make the goat milk soap for one of the boys. He suffers from dermatitis. I heard there are rave reviews from many who have tried it. The soap is made from pure goat milk (no water added to this recipe) and then other natural ingredients that help exfoliate, like oatmeal. I can't wait to use it. It smells yummy. The bar I got is Pineapple scented. If you would like to check out our friend's fb page about their soap, you can click here.

I looked through one of my cooking magazines that came in the mail today. Taste of Home Healthy Cooking. I found a great recipe for grilled corn in the husks. I also found one for blueberry crisp. I'm going to cook the green beans and new potatoes in the crock pot tomorrow with some ham. Then I'm going to grill steaks and the corn. I'll make the blueberry crisp for dessert. yummo. I can't wait. It's suppose to be about 90 degrees so grilling out sounds like a great option.

Think I'll make a big pitcher of Ice Tea and sit out on the patio. It will be a day to lounge and enjoy summer.

Happy 4th of July 2011

Happy July 4th..

I love the 4th of July. It's all sparkly with red, white, and blue everything. It shimmers and sparkles just like those fireworks we all love. My heart beats all day with well loved songs of freedom.
I look for flags. The unexpected ones, the ones neighbors fly. The ones that will decorate bikes, and motorcycles and even semi-trucks.

I love the picnics and parties, the Lemonade and messy hotdogs. The laughter of kids as they play in the sprinkler or giggle about the ice cream that dribbles down their chins. I love the fireworks. They are such a wonderful end to such an American day.

I wish you a wonderful 4th.. I hope you let ice cream dribble down your chin.
I hope you sing a line or two of a favorite American Freedom song.
I hope you see a flag and remember with love the Country we are so privileged to live in.
I hope you remember those who fought for our freedom, and those who fight now to preserve it.

I hope your eyes get a little wet, your heart sings over special moments and memories.

I particularly love this song. You may not have heard it, but it is so appropriate for the 4th of July weekend.

There She Stands
Written by: Michael W. Smith, and Wes King…

When the night
Seems to say
All is lost
Gone away
But I know
I’m not alone
By the light
She stands

There she waves
Faithful friend
Shimmering stars
Westward wind
Show the way
Carry me
To the place
She stands

Just when you think it might be over
Just when you think the fight is gone
Someone will risk his life to raise her
There she stands

There she flies
Clear blue sky
Reminds us with red
Of those that died
Washed in white
By the brave
In their strength
She stands

When evil calls itself a martyr
When all your hopes come crashing down
Someone will pull her from the rubble
There she stands

We’ve seen her flying torn and tattered
We’ve seen her stand the test of time
And through it all the fools have fallen
There she stands

By the dawns
Early light
And through the fight
She stands
